Metal Roofing in Macclenny for a Cooler, Longer-Lasting Home

We install standing seam and 5V crimp metal roofs with reflective finishes, high-temperature underlayment and careful trim at every edge. You get a roof that sheds summer heat, holds tight in wind and rain, and asks very little of you for many years.

When a Metal Roof Is the Right Choice

Metal earns its place on homes whose owners expect to be there a long while and would rather not think about the roof again for decades. Panels don't curl, shed granules or soften in the sun the way asphalt shingles do, and a properly fastened system resists the wind-driven rain that comes with North Florida summer storms.

It also changes how your attic feels. A light color or cool-pigment finish reflects much of the sun's energy instead of soaking it up, so less heat reaches the insulation below. How much that trims your cooling bill depends on your attic insulation and ventilation, so we look at both before we tell you what to expect.

If your current roof still has good years left, a roof repair may be the smarter spend for now. We'll say so plainly.

What Our Metal Roofing Work Includes

Panel systems compared on your roof
We cover standing seam with concealed fasteners and exposed-fastener 5V crimp or ribbed panels. We walk through the look, the upkeep and the budget for each so you choose with a clear picture.
Tear-off and deck repair
We remove the old roofing down to the deck, replace soft or delaminated plywood, and renail the sheathing to current code. A metal roof is only as sound as what it's fastened to.
High-temperature underlayment
Metal panels run hot through a Florida summer. We use underlayment rated for that heat, so it stays put and doesn't break down under the panels.
Flashing, trim and penetrations
Ridge caps, eave and rake trim, valleys, and boots around vents and pipes are formed and sealed to match the panel profile. These details are where rushed metal roofs leak, so they get our most careful attention.
Ventilation and finish selection
We size ridge and soffit venting so the attic can breathe, and help you pick a color and coating with good solar reflectance. If your gutters need refitting to suit the new eave trim, our gutters work can be done at the same time.

Signs a Metal Roof Is Worth Considering

  • Your shingles are near the end

Curled tabs, bald patches and granules collecting in the gutters mean the roof is wearing out. If you're facing a roof replacement anyway, this is the moment to compare metal with shingles side by side.

  • Upstairs rooms stay hot into the evening

When the air conditioner runs long after sunset and the attic feels like an oven, a reflective metal roof paired with better ventilation can ease that load.

  • Every strong wind costs you shingles

Repeated storm repairs tell you the roof is losing its grip. Clipped or through-fastened panels hold to the deck in a very different way.

  • Shade, needles and algae on the roof

Roofs under pines and oaks stay damp and collect debris. Metal sheds needles more easily and gives algae far less to cling to.

  • You plan to stay for the long haul

Metal costs more at the start and earns it back over years of low upkeep. The longer you stay, the better the math.

How a Metal Roof Install Runs

  1. 1

    Measure and estimate

We measure every roof plane, check the attic and decking from inside where we can, and talk through panel and finish choices. You get a written line-item estimate at no cost and with no obligation.

  2. 2

    Permit and material order

We pull the permit and order panels cut to length for your roof, with trim in the matching finish. Once the material is confirmed, we give you a start date.

  3. 3

    Tear-off and dry-in

We cover shrubs, the driveway and your outdoor AC unit before anything comes off. Old roofing is stripped in sections, decking is repaired, and each section is wrapped in underlayment before the crew packs up, so no bare plywood sits exposed overnight.

  4. 4

    Panels, flashing and trim

Panels are fastened at the spacing the code calls for, then flashing, ridge caps and edge trim are fitted by hand around every vent, valley and wall.

  5. 5

    Inspection and cleanup

After the final inspection we run magnets across the yard and driveway for screws and metal shavings, then walk the finished roof with you.

What Moves the Price of a Metal Roof

Metal costs more up front than shingles, and the spread between systems is wide. We price each roof from its own measurements and condition and list every line on paper. Financing is available if spreading the cost helps.

Standing seam or 5V crimp
Concealed-fastener standing seam needs mechanical seaming, clips and more hours on the roof, so it lands higher on the estimate than screw-down 5V crimp.
Roof shape
Hips, valleys, dormers and skylights mean more cuts, more trim and more hand-fitted flashing than a simple gable.
Deck condition
Rotted plywood only shows itself during tear-off. We put a per-sheet replacement price in the estimate so there's no surprise later.
Gauge and finish
Heavier gauge steel and premium PVDF coatings cost more than lighter panels with standard paint, and they hold color and resist chalking longer.
Layers and venting
Removing more than one old layer, or adding ridge and soffit vents the attic has been missing, adds time and material.

Metal Roofing Questions

Something not covered here? (904) 867-2243

Will I hear every raindrop with a metal roof?

No. Panels laid on a solid plywood deck with underlayment beneath sound close to shingles in a downpour. The drumming most people picture comes from barns and sheds, where sheets are screwed straight to open purlins with nothing underneath. The insulation in your attic softens what little sound is left.

Will a metal roof lower my power bill?

It can, mostly on cooling. Results depend on the finish color, how well your attic is insulated and how well it vents. We check all three during the estimate and give you an honest view instead of a promised number.

Can you put metal over my existing shingles?

Code allows it in some cases, but we generally recommend a full tear-off. That lets us find and replace soft decking and lay proper underlayment, and it keeps heat from being trapped between layers.

Does a metal roof attract lightning?

No. Metal doesn't make a strike more likely. Steel panels are also noncombustible, so they won't catch fire from embers or a nearby strike the way some roofing can.

Should I choose standing seam or 5V crimp?

Standing seam hides its fasteners, looks cleaner and needs less upkeep over time. 5V crimp costs less, but its exposed screws have rubber washers that should be checked and replaced as they age. We'll show you both on your roof's layout before you decide.
